The focus of Mercy Widows & Orphans Foundation is equipping the widows and teenage orphans with the necessary skills that will enable them provide for themselves. In this regard, Mercy Widows & Orphans Foundation proposes to set up Skill Acquisition Centers in Lagos, Owerri, and Addis Ababa, in the first year of operation. The Centers will have the necessary equipments and teachers recruited to teach dressmaking; bag making; bead making; hairdressing; soap, pomade and perfume making; small scale production of insecticide and air freshener. Computer skills, as well as computer and telephone repairs will be taught. There will also be language and linguistics studies. Attendees will be taught how to start, grow and manage a business. Mercy Widows & Orphans Foundation will organize small loans for eligible graduates to start up businesses of their choice. Appropriate structures will be put in place to facilitate issuance of interest-free loans and repayment of the loan instalmentally.
